Our story is rooted in a love for direct-trade, ethically-sourced bean-to-bar chocolate. Chocolate is now entering into its ‘second-wave’, and we want to bring the bold experiences of tasting fine chocolate to you.

CacaoWorks Philosophy

Making great craft chocolate is not our only devotion; we are even more passionate about helping our customers enter the amazing world of fine-flavour chocolate! Through tasting experiences, education and bringing you through the rich history and benefits of pure, direct-trade cacao, our clients go from chocolate tasters to chocolate lovers!

We asked ourselves: “What could we bring to the table to push the norms of what chocolate can taste like?” Flavours such as savory, sweet, aromatic and umami – this is our playground to bring our clients flavours that will deepen their love for this wonderful bean.

Making the world better in our sourcing, packaging and knowledge about the world of chocolate is ingrained in our ethos. We hope to bring you along with us, on this journey!

Our Story

From a life embedded in the corporate world, it was time for a change. As a lover and home roaster of coffee, Andrew Bennett (founder, process geek and maker). began a quest to transform the way people experience chocolate. Inspired by the potential for cacao’s next wave of evolution, he envisioned a brand that would not only create exceptional chocolate but also educate and engage consumers.

It all began with a trip to a local specialty coffee roaster in 2023. As coffee enters a new wave of innovation, new fermentation methods are bringing out flavour notes unheard of to the average coffee consumer. Suddenly, a curious idea arose in Andrew’s mind. “Can chocolate become this beautiful and intimate experience of flavours and aromas that others embrace in such a way as with a fine wine or an aged bottle of whisky?”

Within a month, Andrew was booked on a plane trip to Belize, touring all corners of the country to seek out cacao plantations for a chance to bring these flavours back home. From Belize, to Ecuador, to meeting makers, farmers and world leaders of Chocolate at festivals around the world, the vision was accomplished – and Cacaoworks was born!

About the chocolate Maker, Andrew Bennett

At CacaoWorks, Andrew Bennett - the founder - fosters a foundational belief and ethos for a clean, unadulterated approach to chocolate-making. A technical analyst and engineer by trade, he has brought this approach to chocolate making to shake up a young, but impassioned industry.

Starting a small hobby chocolate business, found only at farmer’s markets, was never the vision. Andrew believes that everyone should have access to fine chocolate - and more importantly - to offer education and guidance on how to appreciate fine flavour chocolate! Cacaoworks was born with the intention to go all-in. Building an artisan facility to bring and introduce craft chocolate to Alberta!

The focus on transparency in chocolate, didn’t stop at sourcing. Andrew envisioned a revolutionary app that would allow consumers to track their chocolate’s journey from the farm, to the bar here at home. With just a tap, users could witness the entire process, complete with visuals and videos that demystified where chocolate comes from and chocolate-making, in a way never seen before. With chocolate lovers everywhere, we believe we can grow the global world of chocolate together – sustainably and equitably - while enjoying amazing flavours and that sought-after chocolate experience along the way!
